As a charity it was vital that uk4u Thanks! had a
professional and engaging website, something Digibug achieve time and time again.
The new face

Using the Christmas box as inspiration the character was created in a number of poses from running to a big group hug, we also created the boxes in the colours of our armed forces.

After commissioning Digibug to produce a new uk4u Thanks! website the charity were keen to show it off at a special presentation so this 5 minute video was created.
uk4u - Case Study
Meeting the uk4u trustee's and seeing how passionate they were about their charity inspired us to pull out all the stops to when creating their new website and associated character, some of the new features on their website were:
- Advanced animated promotion block with image fading effects
- Full CMS system giving them control over content, blog / news posts and more
- Interactive photo gallery to show how all their hard work really makes a difference
- Flash enhancements showing the contents of the christmas box
Along with the website development we also created the now iconic Christmas box character, as you will see scattered throughout the site this lovable character really does have a personality of its own.
The Character
Using the uk4u Thanks christmas box as inspiration we set out to create a 3D style cartoon character that is fun, active and happy, everything that a soldier is at the time of opening their own Christmas Charity box. In a similar style to the Re-Retail Characters we created the illustration using a mixture of sketches, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to create a full range of lovable characters for use on the uk4u Thanks! website and marketing.
Website
The new website for uk4u Thanks! remained true to it's roots and retained the existing logo and colour scheme however we set out to create a visually stunning site that was full of character, in fact it was the new character that Digibug created for uk4u that really makes this site come to life. The newly created character in several poses was used throughout the site to give it a realy visual story and reinforce the key element of uk4u, the Christmas box.
A new CMS system was used to enable them to add/edit/remove any page of the website with a simple click, the familiar 'Word' style editor made simple text changes not only very quick but also very easy.
The dynamic approach to this website means that it is incredibly flexible. If a new page is added it will automatically show within the dropdown menu, adding a news story not only creates the page itself but also adds a link to this page on the homepage, sitemap and archive automatically and to give even more control the CMS system has a lightweight image editor built in allowing resizing, renaming and even cropping of your photos.
