Impact Signs & Print - Case Study

Impact Signs & Print - DesignsAlready well established in the industry, Impact Signs decided it was time to re-brand with the intention to give the company greater visual impact and more corporate appeal. With this in mind we set to work producing a look and feel worthy of a Hollywood Blockbuster!!

A key part of this re-brand was to create a collection of images that reflected a couple of their key services, Digital Printing and Vehicle Wrapping while also raising the profile of the company with the use of these high impact shots.

The Marketing Concepts

Below you will see the final compositions, three for promoting Impact Signs and Print along with their services and another to show how the company's vehicle graphics could look.

Signage Composition

Impact Signs Awareness Campaign

This eye catching image originally starting out as the Impact 'i' crashing into a street but swiftly moved on to a concept that is full of small messages, leaving the viewer to ponder over what they see before them.

Our aim was to show how to make a positive impact.  We decided to create an unattractive, run down wall and give the impression that the Impact 'i' has smashed through it to show a more positive image, ivy and butterflies all work their way out through the hole in the wall giving a positive spin on a negative action.

This image took many hours to complete and the final shot contains over 40 individual layers, 12 alone were used just to create the fog and dust particles, Advanced cloning & shading techniques were used along with light effects to create an image that is as individual as the client.

Vehicle Wrap Composition

Impact Signs Vehicle Wrapping

Showing the extraordinary is sometimes the best way to capture the imagination of your audience, this is demonstrated with a vehicle wrapping composition.  A simple wildlife shot with a twist.  Here, the elephants skin catches your attention, add to this the clever message that Impact Signs can wrap just about anything and you are left with a single eye catching shot, leaving the viewer with a distinct and memorable image, yet still conveying the overall message quickly and effectively.

Again research, visits to local zoos and wildlife parks were vital to get a clear idea of what needed to be achieved. We used a mixture of online stock photography and our own shots to create this image.  In total this composition has in excess of 50 individual layers using a total of 15 individual photos, all combined to create a picture that not only catches the viewers eye but does so in a way that is fun and memorable!

Digital Print Composition

Impact Signs Digital Printing

"We would like an image that sums up how good our Digital Printing is..." - This is what we were asked to achieve. Our solution, a digital shot thats so good it will bring home the milk!

After the fantastic response from the Vehicle wrap humour campaign it was decided that humour was key in the next image we produced and what better way than to see three cows drawn to the beauty of the new girl... well not exactly!!

The message here is simple, Impact Signs digital printing is so good you'll barely notice the difference, as shown here by the three cows ready to use their best chat up lines on Daisy!

Over 20 layers were used to create this shot, the wooden cow frame and post were created in photoshop from wooden textures and some shadow magic, add to this the cow print wrap around and you've got yourself an udderly awesome shot!

Impact Fleet Composition

Impact Signs Vehicle Graphics

Our next mission was to come up with a vehicle wrap that people simply could not miss when passing by.

After a short spell of brain storming it was clear that there is one thing people cannot resist and that is to stop and stare when there is an accident or they see a damaged vehicle so with this in mind we started working on a concept where we could impale the Impact 'i' into the side of a vehicle.

This was probably the most challenging of all our compositions, to get the look of impact we needed to work out how the vehicle would dent, showing this along with scratches, torn metal and cracking glass was a challenge that used over 40 different layers and effects to achieve.

As you can see from the concept image, the level of detail in the torn metal was incredibly high.

Website

Impact Signs & Print Website

The new website for impact signs used the same branding to maintain consistency. A new CMS system was used to enable them to add/edit/remove any page of the website with a simple click, the familiar 'Word' style editor made simple text changes not only very quick but also very easy.

A new photo gallery was added that links directly to their flickr account saving them time from having to modify two seperate websites, now all they need to do is upload new images to their flickr account and they will automatically show on the impact signs website.  Data collection was also key so a newsletter signup form was created which integrates to the CMS backend where they can view members details or send mailshots out directly.

The dynamic approach to this website means that it is incredibly flexible. If a new page is added it will automatically show within the dropdown menu, adding a news story not only creates the page itself but also adds a link to this page on the homepage, sitemap and archive automatically and to give even more control the CMS system has a lightweight image editor built in allowing resizing, renaming and even cropping of your photos.
