Digibug plays its part at Weymouth Carnival 2011

What a day! Weymouth Carnival 2011 was by far and away the best ever!

It’s estimated that around 100,000 people turned out to enjoy the live entertainment, fun fair, air displays and the fantastic procession along the Esplanade.

Congratulations to everyone who put in so much hard work to make this year’s Carnival such a success. Hundreds of people from across Weymouth and Portland put hours, even days, of their own time into building floats, event planning, organising publicity, and stewarding on the day.

Loads of other jobs were done in the background, invisible to almost everyone, but really important to making the day go well.

Digibug was right in the thick of it all. We put together the Carnival website, the map in the centre of the Carnival programme, and Paul was deeply involved in the planning. His Carnival day started at 5am and he was on his feet for well over 12 hours, making stuff happen.

Weymouth seafront was packed from mid-morning through to the evening as entertainment was laid on in bucketloads, much of it free.

The Red Devils parachute team landed on the beach in the morning, flying the Olympic flag. The skies were busy for much of the day as pilots and daring wingwalkers demonstrated their skills. It was topped by the incredible RAF Red Arrows.

Everyone’s still buzzing about what a great day it was and we’re already planning for Carnival 2012, in our Olympic year. It could be even bigger and even better than 2011.
