Flavours Website Graphic

Donning their chef’s whites and with a flourish of rolling pins and wooden spoons, the Digibug team ventured into the graphic design kitchen to create a website for Flavours School of Cookery.

Preparing a great website is a bit like cooking a fabulous meal. Knowing what to leave out is just as important as knowing what to put in. The right blend of ingredients excites the palette, but get it wrong, and it’s too sour, or too sweet. Presentation is just as important as substance, as is an overall sense of balance.

Des and Amy, of Flavours, came to Digibug through a recommendation. Their intimate cookery school in Bournemouth needed a website which reflected their culinary passions and their commitment to cuisine. The site had to whet the appetite of visitors, so they could find their way around and easily book themselves on to classes.

Booking and payment were important elements of the Flavours website, as they are key to the business. The school teaches a mixture of different classes, for adults and children, in groups and one-to-one, so it was essential that customers could both see what was on offer and easily make their choice.

Des Burke, owner of Flavours, said of Digibug: “The guys are really cool. Their ideas are fresh, inspired and they make good use of the modern, shiny toys to make the website great to look at and easy to use.”

Recruiter hires Dorset website designer Digibug http://www.digibug.co.uk/recruiter-hires-dorset-website-designer-digibug.html Recruiter tells Digibug "You're hired"

Corrigan Bentley

When it was time to update their presence online, forward-thinking recruitment company, Corrigan Bentley, began searching for someone who could do more than just build them a website.

The firm had spent years working with developers who constructed sites that were functional, but dull. What they were looking for was a website solution that combined creative flair, a contemporary look and a robust infrastructure.

Corrigan Bentley’s search eventually brought them to Digibug, whose work they had spotted elsewhere. The Sussex-based recruiters were quickly impressed by the Digibug team’s commitment to getting the job done, and by the cutting-edge designs they produce.

The new Corrigan Bentley website, designed, built and hosted by Digibug, is helping the recruitment company to stand out. Its strong branding and professional image are completely in tune with the recruiter’s commitment to finding and putting forward only the very best applicants for the roles it is handling.

Ben Freeman of Corrigan Bentley said of Digibug: “Paul and Lee are excellent guys to work with.” He found their creativity and swift resolution of problems to be refreshing, having worked with other developers who had delivered slow, unimaginative solutions.

Ben’s also pleased that the website is drawing comments from others in his industry, and is giving Corrigan Bentley staff added pride in their own business. He’s already begun recommending Digibug to others. “I wouldn’t use anyone else,” he said.

Email marketing continues to boost sales http://www.digibug.co.uk/email-marketing-continues-to-boost-sales1.html Email marketing continues to boost sales

Email marketing provides good value for money, says around three out of four organisations that use it. That’s according to a survey by digital marketing experts, Econsultancy, early in 2011.

Some businesses have been put off using email marketing because they are afraid of being labelled as spammers. Others simply haven’t got around to it, preferring to stick with trusted strategies such as putting an ad in the paper, even though the returns are not so good.

The Direct Marketing Association in America estimated that in 2010 every $1 spent on email marketing would generate a return of $42.08. That’s a huge return on investment, and we can expect similar returns here in the UK.

Thousands of firm are winning business through email newsletters

Whatever you might think of the newsletters, updates and special offer emails that arrive in your inbox, they are making money for the businesses that send them.

If email isn’t part of your strategy, all the statistics say that it should be. We’re helping an increasing number of clients to set up and run email marketing campaigns, allowing them to reach a wider audience more quickly and win new customers.

Modern email marketing systems allow you to capture detailed information about how many people open the messages they have been sent, and how many click on the links which could lead to sales through your website. Unlike putting an ad in the paper, you’ll get a much better view of how many sales your marketing has generated.

To find out more about how email marketing can boost your sales, call us today on 01305 305505.

Globetrotting Kerry lands Graphic Design role at Digibug http://www.digibug.co.uk/globetrotting-kerry-lands-graphic-design-role-at-digibug.html Globetrotting Kerry lands Graphic Design role at Digibug

Digibug New Staff

Digibug are excited to have begun 2012 with a new team member. Kerry Stinson joined in early January as a Graphic Designer, having previously led the Graphics Department for an Exeter estate agent.

With 8 years of graphic design experience and a passion for travel to inspirational places, Kerry is bubbling with excitement for her new role based in Digibug’s Devon office, situated in the heart of Exeter. She’s relishing the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of clients who include local, national and international companies.

“It’s very exciting to add Kerry’s skills and commitment to Digibug’s pool of graphic and web design expertise,” said Lee Potter, one of the company’s founders. “Her energy and enthusiasm are infectious.”

Kerry began her career thousands of miles away, graduating from The Design School of Southern Africa in 2001. Her love of travel has taken her all over the world, but she’s been based in the UK since 2003, when she began working for a marketing company in Bristol.

She moved to Devon a year later and has worked for advertising and media firms in Exeter, where her skills have seen her promoted to team leader. She keeps her work fresh by regularly jumping on a plane to see new sights and explore new cultures. Her travels have included time in Ivory Coast, Zanzibar, Tunisia and all over Europe.

But right now, Kerry has got her feet firmly under a Digibug desk, while her head is full of inspired ideas. “I love nothing more than having a blank canvas in front of me and a goal to achieve,” she said.

Don't let your new website sink out of sight http://www.digibug.co.uk/dont-let-your-new-website-sink-out-of-sight.html Don't let your new website sink out of sight

We love building fantastic websites for our clients. But there’s more to a great website than eye-popping graphic design, uber-easy navigation and super-smooth page transitions. What makes a website truly great is that it gets visitors. Lots and lots of visitors.

Having your website eye-balled by thousands of people every month requires making a serious effort to promote it. After all, there are zillions of sites online and lots of them are selling the same things that you are, more or less.

So we’ve put together some Digibug tips for increasing the number of people visiting your site.

1. Make sure existing customers know your website address

Flaunt your website address or ‘URL’ as it’s sometimes known, at every opportunity. Your customers shouldn’t need to ask, “Do you have a website?” because everything they receive from you should have the address on it.

2. Use Twitter or Facebook

If you haven’t got into the ‘social media’ thing, perhaps it’s time you did. More and more businesses are discovering that they can reach new customers through systems such as Facebook and Twitter.

Using social media can raise the visibility of your website in two different ways. Firstly, it can allow new customers to discover you, through status updates and tweets by their friends and those they follow.

Secondly, it can boost your website’s Google ranking. Google are increasingly including social media in their SEO algorithms - that is, the way in which they calculate the position of your website when someone performs a Google search.

(SEO stands for search engine optimisation, which is all about making your website more visible to Google and other search engines).

3. Put your website on your LinkedIn profile

You do have a LinkedIn profile, don’t you? If you haven’t, perhaps it’s time you did. LinkedIn isn’t just for executives and professional types - it’s for everyone.

4. Add new content to your website

You might be really pleased with your smart new website, but it’s quickly going to become dated if you never add new content to it. Take the time to add a news update or blog post every week or two.

While visitors are unlikely to come to your site out of curiosity to see what’s new, the more content you have, the more likely it is that they’ll find you through a search engine query. Google have made it clear that their system for ranking websites includes a check on how ‘fresh’ the content is.

If you want to get noticed, keep adding new material to your website.

Unsure about social media, LinkedIn or how to add new content to your website? Give the Digibug team a call - we’d love to help. Give us a call on 01305 305505.

Digibug raises Sandsfoot Castle website from the ruins http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-raises-sandsfoot-castle-website-from-the-ruins.html Digibug raises new Sandsfoot Castle website from the ruins

Rowland Patisserie

As part of a major renovation project, the Friends of Rodwell Trail and Sandsfoot Castle, in Weymouth, decided they needed a new website to promote these important local landmarks. So they came to us at Digibug for help with graphic design and website building.

Sandsfoot Castle, built by Henry VIII but abandoned long ago, was, until recently, badly in need of some TLC. Years of neglect and exposure to the elements were taking their toll on Weymouth’s only scheduled ancient monument.

Fortunately, a £194k grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund has enabled Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, in partnership with the Friends of Rodwell Trail and Sandsfoot Castle, to renovate the ruins. A new walkway has been added, to make the castle, which overlooks Portland Harbour, more accessible to the public.

While the renovation work was going on, the Friends chose to refurbish their online presence. A bit like the castle, their existing website was crumbling at the edges and looking somewhat sorry for itself.

The Friends had some clear ideas for their new website. They wanted an easy-to-use content management system (CMS), so they could add news and content themselves. They were also keen to have up-to-date, attractive photographs and the ability to schedule events.

Digibug designed and constructed the new website using the popular Wordpress system, having decided that this was the right choice to meet the needs of the Friends.

Today, both the new website and the renovated Sandsfoot Castle are attractive places to visit.

Digibug launches Dorset Vending website http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-launches-dorset-vending-website.html Digibug turns the handle and out pops the Dorset Vending website

Dorset Vending

Another client website has burst out of the Digibug creative engine and onto the internet. This time, it’s the site for Dorset Vending, suppliers of those machines that swallow your coins and spit out sweets or a small toy in return.

You can’t buy graphic design or website development from a vending machine. But you do get the element of surprise, because after turning the handle or pushing the button, you’re not always entirely sure what’s going to drop out of the dispenser.

Thankfully, when Gavin Borthwick of Dorset Vending saw what he was getting from Digibug, he was delighted. The website captured the essence of his business, which is continually on the lookout for high quality devices from around the world.

Digibug designed the new website and the words were supplied by our copywriting partner, Andrew Knowles of Writecombination.

Digibug says goodbye to a wonderful 2011 http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-says-goodbye-to-a-wonderful-2011.html Digibug says goodbye to a wonderful 2011

Goodbye 2011

Phew, what a year we’ve had! 2011 has been a corker for Digibug and 2012 promises to be even more exciting - and not just because of that big sporty thing.

A massive ‘thank you’ goes to all of our wonderful clients for their support during the year. You’ve all been great fun to work with.

The highlight of 2011 has to be the 24-hour makeover of our new Exeter office. Swapping our Macs for paintbrushes and screwdrivers, we transformed a dull, nondescript Devon basement into the funky, Digibug creative laboratory, the nerve centre of our bid for graphic design world domination... (cue evil laugh).

Okay, maybe not. But opening our office in Exeter was a big step for Digibug. And we’re now approaching another milestone, hiring our first member of staff. An offer’s been made, and accepted, and our new designer starts in Exeter in January. We’ll be saying more about Kerry in the near future.

While world domination might be just a glint in Digibug’s eye, we’ve enjoyed plenty of growth this year. We’ve been involved in the hosting or design of over 70 new websites in 2011. They were a mixed bunch, including charity sites, the public sector (such as Dorset Police) and, of course, lots of private sector firms.

We have also continued to provide third-party graphic design services to other design firms.

Another change in 2011 was our expansion into copywriting services. Through our partnership with freelance copywriter, Andrew Knowles, of Writecombination, we can now provide a complete website service. Clients come to us wanting a website: we design it, build it, create the text, set up SEO, host it and provide on-going support. All for a ridiculously low fee.

It’s not all work, work, work here at Digibug. We also find time for fun, and we enjoy combining that with support for local good causes. This year we’ve given hours of our time to Weymouth Carnival and Weymouth Christmas Sparkle.

We also stopped shaving our upper lips for Movember. A big thank you goes to Nigel Reed, of Weymouth Basepoint, and Thomas Mereweather, of Equation Accounting, for being part of our hairy team.

So that’s 2011 almost in the can. We’re closed from 22 December through to 3 January 2012. Although, if you have a support issue, you can call the usual number. We love you so much that we’ve rigged the phone system to reach us, wherever we are (well, almost).

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas, along with a happy and (despite the ‘almost recession’) a prosperous New Year!

Digibug helps Gundenham Dairy website moo-ve with the times http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-helps-gundenham-dairy-website-moo-ve-with-the-times.html Digibug helps Gundenham Dairy website moo-ve with the times

Gundenham Diary

Forget cricket, Morris dancing and quaint thatched cottages with a twee rose arch over the front door. Nothing is more unmistakably British than the clink of milk bottles arriving on your doorstep before breakfast.

Which means Digibug’s fresh new client, Gundenham Dairy, could be literally right up your street. Or at least their products may be.

Somerset-based Gundenham has been home to cows that produce rich, creamy milk for at least the last 90 years. Their 500 acres are currently roamed by 350 Holstein Friesians, who spend every day chewing the cud so that you, or at least someone near you, can enjoy fresh milk, cheese, butter, cream and eggs.

Okay, we don’t think the eggs come from the cows. Neither do the bacon, biscuits, bread and basketful of other produce that Gundenham delivers to their customers.

To help promote all this Somerset goodness, and to help raise their profile as a centre for agricultural education (try saying that after a mug of West Country cider), Gundenham knew they needed a website.

And not just any old website. As a past winner of Radio 4’s Food & Farming Award for Best Food Producer, Gundenham knew they deserved only the best. Which is why they came to Digibug.

What Gundenham is to dairy farming, Digibug is to graphic design and website development. Traditional skills, commitment to quality and the occasional spot of nimble footwork to avoid standing in something unpleasant.

From the initial meeting in the Somerset pastures, the Digibug team digested Gundenham’s requirements, and delivered a cool, fresh website that they love. Not only does it look mouthwateringly good, it also integrates with the Dairy’s social media strategy and helps new and potential customers find what they want in just a click or two. (Or should that be a click or moo?)

It's Movember! http://www.digibug.co.uk/its-movember.html Hair today and more hair toMorrow - it's Movember!

Digibug Movember

Digibug enjoys a reputation as a go-ahead graphic and web design agency in Dorset and Devon. But for this month, they’re also Mo-ahead!

Always willing to take risks for charity, Digibug directors, Paul Weeks and Lee Potter, have again taken up the Movember challenge. They’re both maintaining a hairy upper lip this month, nurturing their moustaches in aid of charity.

Movember is a global campaign raising awareness of cancers which affect men, and raising funds at the same time. It’s also an opportunity for a bit of fun around an (almost) unique male activity - the nurturing of facial hair.

Sponsor the Mo!

The Digibug guys haven’t joined the Mo Bros just for a bit of fun. As their hair grows every day, so too, they hope, will the pile of sponsorship money that they raise.

You can contribute directly to their follicle fund through the Movember website - just click here to make your donation.

Movember began back in Australia just a few years ago. It captured the imagination of men around the globe and now over a million people worldwide are joining in. From Britain alone, Movember raised nearly £12 million last year.

The money goes to health education and research programmes run by organisations such as the Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research. You can find out more information from their website.

Magento - ecommerce Website

Having been in the flower business for over 25 years, Sarah Standland knew that she needed an attractive, easy to use website that allowed people to see what was on offer and to place orders without any hassle.

After a bad experience with her first website designer, the owner of Pygmalion Florist came to Digibug, where she was overwhelmed by the flexibility and capability of the small team.

“I got exactly the look and feel that I wanted for my website,” said Sarah. The site, launched in May this year, includes ecommerce capability which allows customers to order bouquets online.

It is also linked to the florist’s Facebook page, where her customers can get up-to-date information about workshops she’s running, and exchange comments and opinions. Sarah also makes use of LinkedIn and Twitter, further promoting her business through social media.

Working with Digibug restored Sarah’s faith in website designers. Talking of Digibug Director Paul Weeks, she said: “Paul’s very approachable, patient and accommodating. He goes out of his way to help.”

The Pygmalion Florist website is built using a content management system, allowing Sarah to add new products and pages as she needs them. This lets her grow her site as she grows her business.

Rush Electric Bikes spark creative website design http://www.digibug.co.uk/rush-electric-bikes-spark-creative-website-design.html Rush Electric Bikes spark creative website design

Rush Electric

In just a few years, most bikes will be electric bikes. That’s the message from Rush Electric Bikes, a brand new local business whose website we have just launched.

When she came to us a few weeks ago, Kathy Stewart, owner of Rush Electric Bikes, knew she needed a website with a cool, contemporary feel. It had to be both eye-catching and educational, because most of us aren’t familiar with electrically powered bicycles.

Kathy was thrilled by our initial designs, which included creating the logo for her new brand. Having established the look and feel of the site, we worked with copywriter Andrew Knowles to create the content.

The Rush website includes all the elements that are key to successful online marketing: social media integration, regular news updates, SEO and user-friendly navigation. We were able to advise Kathy on all of these areas, meaning she didn’t have to worry about the technicalities of making the site as effective as it could be.

As with most website projects, tweaks and late changes were required up until the last moment. That was no problem for us because we want our customers’ sites to be as close to perfect as they can be.

Digibug talks web design at Open4Business http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-talks-web-design-at-open4business.html Digibug talks web design at Open4Business in Weymouth

Paul Weeks - Stephanie Pettitt - Andrew Knowles

Dorset business owners gathered at the new Weymouth Fire Station this week to hear our very own Paul Weeks talk about how business can make better use of the internet.

He addressed important issues which are so often overlooked in the rush to get a website online, such as user-friendly navigation and creating a mobile version.

More and more consumers are accessing the internet through mobile devices, such as Smartphones and tablet computers. As a result, some firms could be losing business because their websites are not designed to load quickly, or are not easy to use, on a mobile device.

He also discussed the importance of search engine optimisation (SEO), explaining the difference between achieving a presence on the search engines through per click advertising and organic listings.

Paul shared the floor with Andrew Knowles, a freelance writer for business, who spoke about social media, and Stephanie Pettitt of Equation Accounting, who shared her experiences of using cloud computing.

The presentations provoked considerable discussion among the business owners present, all of whom seemed keen to further exploit the potential of online marketing to boost trade. Many were also interested in the productivity benefits that could come from cloud computing.

Rowland Patisserie

We’ve just designed and launched the website for Patisserie Rowland, a sweet new business that’s recently opened in the centre of Weymouth.

Quality is really, really important to Master Chef Rowland. He’s a gold medal winner in culinary arts and patisserie and has cooked for royalty and celebrities around the world. We know from working with Rowland that he has a very sharp eye for detail, which is evident if you take a look at the incredible cakes that he makes with his team.

Not surprisingly, working with Rowland’s mouth-watering pictures had us raiding the cookie cupboard on a regular basis. The Digibug team probably put on a few pounds while we designed and built the website. So it’s good news for everyone that it’s been completed.

We’re pleased to say that Rowland is very happy with the work we did for him. “Fantastic, very competent, very professional,” he said, when asked to describe our service. “The problem was my time, as I’m so busy,” he added. “I’d recommend Digibug to anyone who wants a website – they’re a really professional team.”

Digibug clothes the Just Moosey e-commerce website http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-clothes-the-just-moosey-e-commerce-site.html Digibug clothes the Just Moosey e-commerce website

Just Moosey

When Clair brought her infectious enthusiasm for hand-made children’s clothes to the Digibug office, we couldn’t resist getting involved.

The result is the Just Moosey website and online store, which we’ve just launched. Through it, Clair will be selling her hand-made, limited edition children’s clothes across the UK and potentially overseas.

This was a website put together on a tight budget and it demonstrates how even a simple set of pages can be transformed with a distinctive design.

Clair is really excited about the new website and we can’t stop her saying really nice things about us. “Guys, you’ve been amazing. Exceeded my expectations at every level. Nothing is too much trouble. I can’t recommend this talented young team enough. If you need a website look no further.”

We hope you noticed the word ‘young’ in Clair’s generous testimonial!

The gallery is an important part of the Just Moosey website because it allows Clair to show off her creations. She’s been making clothes for years, starting with a stunning selection of pantomime costumes created from scratch. She doesn’t work from patterns and loves converting her creative ideas into wearable garments.

Through Just Moosey, Clair is making her unique, limited-edition range of children’s clothes available to everyone. We’re thrilled to have been asked to play a part in adding this important new dimension to her business.

Digibug to present at Open4Business http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-to-present-at-open-4-business.html Digibug to present at Open 4 Business

We’re really excited about being asked to help present an Open4Business seminar next month.

Called “Social Media, the web, the cloud, and you!”, it’s all about, well, the stuff in the title.

The seminar is open to anyone who runs a business locally and it’s completely free. It’s in a fantastic venue - the new Weymouth fire station.

We’re going to be squeezing a huge amount into just two hours, and that’s all three speakers. The Digibug slot, where we get to talk about what “the web” can do for you, is going to be squeezed into just 20 minutes. Talk about getting a quart into a pint pot!

The other speakers are Andrew Knowles, who specialises in social media and writing for businesses, and Stephanie Pettitt, who set up Equation Accounting.

That’s an exciting combination, even without Digibug. Social media and cloud computing are big, big issues in business at the moment and you ignore them at your peril. We’ve taken this message to heart, which is why you’re seeing more activity on the @digibug Twitter and on our Facebook page.

We know this seminar, which is on 4 October at 10am, is going to be packed out. Andrew recently led a Twitter workshop which people were queuing to get into. Stephanie’s business has won awards, and she’s built it on innovative use of technology.

As for Digibug, well, our clients tell us we do a great job and we’re getting a lot more enquiries. So we must be doing something right!

For more information about the seminar, visit the Open4Business website or get in touch with us. It’s on 4 October, 10am until midday, at the Weymouth Community Fire Safety Centre on Radipole Lane, where there’s free parking. Remember to book early!

It's not all bad news for Dorset businesses http://www.digibug.co.uk/its-not-all-bad-news-for-dorset-businesses.html It's not all bad news for Dorset businesses

A quick glance at the current business news headlines on the BBC website is, on the face of it, depressing.

Major retailers are reporting a drop in sales. House prices and sales, in the UK and overseas, continue to go down. A household name car manufacturer is predicted to go bust in the next few days.

Even the news that the Bank of England is not going to raise interest rates, for the umpteenth month in a row, is tinged with gloom - if you're a saver.

But against this dismal backdrop of national, even global, economic woe, the close-up view through the Digibug window is quite different.

We're seeing a steady flow of local entrepreneurs looking to start, or improve their business. A healthy number are talking to us about new or improved websites and social media marketing campaigns.

While we'll never be economists (please, no!) or expert commentators on what's going on, we are, as business owners ourselves, at the pointy end of the SME experience.

Our perspective is that while many are cutting new holes in their belts in order to tighten them further, there are also lots of brave souls who want to tame the economic wilderness by creating their own patch of commercial success.

That's good news for us at Digibug, because a new business means a new website. It's also good news for other local firms - printers, sign writers, accountants and others who serve these start-ups.

It's also great news for the Weymouth and Portland economy.

And, of course, it's an exciting time for those willing to take on the challenge of building their own business.

We wish them all well - even those who aren't coming to us for their graphic design and websites.

Digibug now offers a copywriting service http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-now-offers-a-copywriting-service.html Digibug now offers a copywriting service

Digibug’s roots are firmly in graphic design and website development. That’s what our customers know and love us for.

But there’s more to a successful website than graphics and layout. Words are hugely important, both to human readers and search engines. While visitors to your website might pause to enjoy the pictures and professional design, when it comes to learning about your products and your business, they want to read words.

Because words are so important to the website experience, we’ve added professional copywriting to the list of services that we provide.

Copywriting is a posh term for ‘words’. It’s not the same thing as copyright, which is all about ownership. When it comes to websites, they’re both important, but different.

Everyone can write but...

...not everyone can write clear, succinct copy that delivers the right message.

The most effective websites make great use of words. They don’t have to be clever, witty or even grammatically perfect. (But take care not to offend some readers with rogue apostrophes or other easy to avoid errors).

Whether it’s a ten word product description, a full page of blurb about the benefits your service offers to customers, or a weekly blog post, it’s important to get the words right.

Words can sell for you

Whatever you sell, your website is a virtual shop. The navigation is the store layout. The pictures and graphics are your displays. And the words are your sales team.

They’re not all ‘sell, sell, sell’. Some are, ‘How can we help you?’ Some are, ‘Here’s a bit more information about our products.’ Others offer useful advice. And yes, there are words which prompt customers to make a buying decision.

We want our Digibug customers to have successful websites. If you want to know more about our copywriting service, get in touch.

Digibug plays its part at Weymouth Carnival 2011 http://www.digibug.co.uk/digibug-plays-its-part-at-weymouth-carnival-2011.html Digibug plays its part at Weymouth Carnival 2011

Osprey Marine Services Logo Design

What a day! Weymouth Carnival 2011 was by far and away the best ever!

It’s estimated that around 100,000 people turned out to enjoy the live entertainment, fun fair, air displays and the fantastic procession along the Esplanade.

Congratulations to everyone who put in so much hard work to make this year’s Carnival such a success. Hundreds of people from across Weymouth and Portland put hours, even days, of their own time into building floats, event planning, organising publicity, and stewarding on the day.

Loads of other jobs were done in the background, invisible to almost everyone, but really important to making the day go well.

Digibug was right in the thick of it all. We put together the Carnival website, the map in the centre of the Carnival programme, and Paul was deeply involved in the planning. His Carnival day started at 5am and he was on his feet for well over 12 hours, making stuff happen.

Weymouth seafront was packed from mid-morning through to the evening as entertainment was laid on in bucketloads, much of it free.

The Red Devils parachute team landed on the beach in the morning, flying the Olympic flag. The skies were busy for much of the day as pilots and daring wingwalkers demonstrated their skills. It was topped by the incredible RAF Red Arrows.

Everyone’s still buzzing about what a great day it was and we’re already planning for Carnival 2012, in our Olympic year. It could be even bigger and even better than 2011.

Customer Feedback:
Thank you Digibug for the hard work and commitment over the past month developing my new shiny site, I feel it represents Daniels fish and chips perfectly.  The site you constructed is graphically better then I imagined and with even more functionality then I requested in my initial brief. I also needed the site delivered before Christmas, you pulled out all the stops to get it completed in time. I'm sure you will agree that the site also shows my commitment to delivering the best fish and chips experience in Dorset, excellent food and an excellent web presence. Thank you again for all your hard work and good luck for 2010.

Re-Retail take eBay by storm!! http://www.digibug.co.uk/reretail.html Re-Retail the eBay heroes

Digibug are very pleased to announce the launch of Re-Retails fantastic new website and company branding. Now lets be honest, we all love eBay right?, but do we love the long, laborious process of listing our items on there to sell, NO!!  It's here that Re-Retail step in and take the hassle out of selling on eBay by selling your items for you.

After our initial consultation with re-retail it was established that two key things were required from the corporate brand:

  • A close link to eBay throughout the new Re-Retail Brand
  • The need for a memorable corporate mascot, something fun, relevant & versatile

With these two things in mind we set our sight on how the company branding could reflect the whole Re-Retail aspect... It was decided that we would create a concept that would play on the recycle aspect, effectively Re-Retail are recycling your unwanted clutter for cash and its this ethos that has now become fundamental through the companys image!!

See the site for yourself at www.reretail.co.uk

Project Included:

• Logo Design  |  • Website Design  |  • Content Management System  |  • Hosting  |  • Full branding & Illustrations

The Digibug team were approached by Ginger Nut Creative based in Lymm, Cheshire and asked if we would like to work with them on an exciting project that they had secured - http://www.neilallenassociates.co.uk/.

FireVoip Launched http://www.digibug.co.uk/firevoip.html Release the fire...

FireVoip Sites - Portal | Store | Forum | Support

Digibug is very proud to announce the launch of one of our biggest projects to date, FireVoip.com - Not one, not two but four websites and complete company branding.  Producing such a variety of projects was relatively straight forward for us, once the key branding was created we set to work on the main gateway in, the Portal, once this was under way we turned our attention to the eCommerce solution and Forum while letting the Support system sit waiting for a fresh new look.  Project management was key throughout this project, ensuring the client was aware of what stage we were at ensured that things were moving in the right direction.  Read on for a more information on these fantastic sites.

FireVoip Portal

Firstly you have the FireVoip Portal, the gateway to everything FireVoip have to offer.  The portal is pulling in RSS news from the telecommunications industry along with with a product gateway in the form of the product carousel, pick your product and you're taken to view the product in the FireVoip store or maybe you're having problems with a product, then you have access to the FireVoip portal or ticket submissions on the FireVoip Support Desk.

FireVoip eCommerce Store

FireVoip required a cost effective solution to online sales, an easy solution to a common problem.  The decision was easy, use one of the fastest growing eCommerce solutions out there 'Magento'.  We developed a bespoke design which ties into the whole FireVoip Branding, each product has a gateway to maximum information for either the manufacturers site, FireVoip forum, download a PDF or Submit a tick to the FireVoip Support desk which was also re-branded by Digibug.

FireVoip Forum

FireVoip are keen to become much more than just another telecommunications company, they're keen to encourage a community of technology hungry users to share not only their thoughts on the products available but also to share their experiences too.  It only takes one person to solve a problem and that one person could be anyone with the FireVoip Forum.

FireVoip Support

FireVoip take supporting their customers very seriously and when they requested a support system we used our experience to recommend one of the best support systems available 'Kayako Support Suite', once purchased and installed we went to work customising the look and feel of the support system to keep the FireVoip experience consistent throughout all sites.

So if you're looking for telecommunication products, there's only one place to go for highly competitive prices, support that's second to none and a home for every tech loving monster out there - www.firevoip.com, be sure to check back regularly as Digibug will be heavily involved in the future development of these sites.

Osprey Marine Services Logo Design

With the 2012 Olympics closing in faster than Usain Bolt, Osprey Marine Services wasted no time in offering a fantastic range of services in the prestigious Portland Marina.  The major re-development of the Marina made this a prime location for the business to start up and with each unit colour coded to an Olympic ring, Osprey can now be found located behind the Olympic yellow door!

Client  -  Osprey Marine Services

Brief  -  Design a logo for the Osprey Marine Services group with a further four logos for the subsidiary companies, Osprey Rigging, Osprey Trailers, Osprey Bikes & Osprey Valeting.  One vital criteria was for the logo to work with yellow - olympic yellow!

Working for cashew nuts http://www.digibug.co.uk/working-for-nuts.html Working for cashew nuts

Dorset Vending Image

After trying one of the snack Vending Machines from Dorset Vending we were very tempted to produce this leaflet for cashew nuts, lets just say they were 'FANTASTIC' but we have bills to pay so instead we pulled out all the stops to produce a leaflet that really is out of this world.

Client  -  Dorset Vending Ltd
Brief  -  Design a leaflet thats out of this world - After an initial consultation it was clear that Gavin was after a leaflet that would sum up his offer in a visual way, simply out of this world!  Using some photos as inpiration, a full illustration was constructed to produce the vending machine rocket along with stock photography and a heap of photoshop magic.
